Happy new year! I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the New Year with family, friends and loved ones. With the new year, I love how we have an automatic time to reset and start again. I’m ready to hit refresh. Are you ready for a new beginning? Now that the new year has begun, it is that time of year again when the new year offers a clean slate from the previous year, making it ideal for people to set goals that they hope to achieve over the next twelve months. Every year, it’s natural for many of us to expect things to be different. As the calendar turns to January, we are filled with hope that this year 2025 will be different and things will be better. With that hope, we are ready to refresh and make New Year’s resolutions to continue. As I look back on 2021, which began with the loss of my dad, it was not an easy year to start; but ultimately, it has been a satisfying year for my life and my career in general. I look forward to 2022 and the great things that await me. For me, the best way to start the year is to be present and intentional. I am more goal-oriented than resolution-oriented. This year, I want to be intentional with my health in the areas of self-care, fitness, and mental health.
Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Do you make the same New Year’s resolutions every year? For many of us, our New Year’s resolution includes making lifestyle changes. Everyone is ready to go to the gym, exercise, eat healthier and get better. While these resolutions are great, it’s not always easy to stick to them because life happens. So don’t beat yourself up or rather, don’t focus so much on making New Year’s resolutions. Focus on your overall well-being, self-care, and mental health. Be intentional, make smart decisions and conscious health choices. Even more, here is an easy and better way to start the new year.

The best way to start the new year
1) Start by working to improve your physical fitness. Start gradually and work towards making it a lifestyle rather than a goal for the year. Exercise to feel good, healthy and with less emphasis on being thinner. Exercises such as walking, hiking, dancing and/or other activities that bring you joy. Restructure your eating habits by focusing on healthy food choices as they will become an essential staple in your self-care routine. Focus on getting healthier and stronger throughout this year. Get yourself a new training suit And work to be healthier!
2) Establish reasonable improvement objectives. It’s okay to not be where you want or need to be tomorrow, the next day, or next month. Set your own pace and be consistent with it. No matter what it is, if you’re starting out with a fitness goal, you should focus on developing small daily goals so that there are no unnecessary obstacles that get in the way of achieving your long-term goals.
3) Strive to become a better person by focusing on self-care. When you focus on self-care, it’s essential to do things like take time for yourself every day, get enough sleep, meditate for 15 minutes every day, and drink plenty of water so your body is working at its best.
4) Don’t give up if things don’t go exactly as planned. To be successful at anything in life, you need patience and perseverance. Don’t feel overwhelmed if you have a day where you’re struggling to reach your goal or if your efforts don’t seem to make much of a difference.
This year, choose to make a lasting change by being consistent with your lifestyle choices, your health, your fitness, your self-care, and most importantly, your mental health.
Remember, being healthy doesn’t mean it feels like an obligation or something you dread having to do every day. Should be fun! You can take advantage of all the opportunities available in your community to stay fit this year by trying different sports, cycling, or joining local yoga classes. Once you start making resolutions that focus on self-care, fitness, and mental health, you’re sure to feel happier, healthier, and more motivated than ever. This year, may it be a year full of happiness and goodness!
