It has been a fairly long path to reach this point, but our bedroom suite finally has wooden floors at all times! It was last September that we hired someone to get the original floor and the subsoil in the local gym and replace the subsoil.
Everything was done in a very rare way as our plans for this area of the house evolved. Originally, the gym at home was going to remain in the gym at home, and the guest room was going to stay in the guest room. But over time, everything became our current plan to convert the gym into the bedroom and turn the guest room into the dressing room and combo of the laundry room.
It was in mid -September when they finished this room, taking out the original closet and installing the new subsoil …
And then it was at the end of November that I decided to remove the entire door to the bedroom, and also removed the corridor cabinet and took the hard wooden floor in the hall since it had settled around the corridor cabinet. For me, the installation of all new floors in this relatively small area seemed easier than having to feature in a new floor where the cabinet had been.
And then it was in December that I made them open the door in the closet/laundry area, remove the old floor and subsoil, and install a new subsoil there too.
Then, all this has been underway since last September, partly because the plan continued to change and evolve, and partly due to my contractor’s problem. After dealing with the contractor and finally telling him not to return just before Christmas, he just needed a break from all this project. After telling him not to return, everything seemed overwhelming, so I had to get away for a while, clarify my mind and concentrate on some fun projects that would keep me and keep me motivated. So I spent the last week of December and the whole month of January of this year focused on fun projects for the outside of my workshop. And it worked! Once I did several projects in that workshop, I was starting to feel motivated to finally face the Big Bedroom Suite project again.
So all that to say this. Since this area is destroyed by one area at the same time since last September, I am sure that you can understand how euphoric I am finally to see great progress in this great project and unifying for our main bedroom suite. After living with the subsoil in part, and then everything, from this bedroom suite during the last five months, could jump for joy of going from this …
… To this in the last three days of the week …
And I will say it again to any of you who are local in the Waco area. I loved having these people in my house. I strongly recommend this local family property business, Valdez Floor Masters, if you have any need for floors.
They were an absolute joy in my house. The proprietary man is semi-stated, but enjoys being in the place to monitor his children and the work that is being done. He is such a pleasant man, and it was very nice to talk to which his children stayed busy and did the job. And they have an incredible work ethic, which are presented on time, work until 5:00 (or a little later) every day, and doing a beautiful job in the installation.
And I know that this is a little thing, but it is one of those little things that impresses me a lot. As I was here at night and during the weekend other things (such as the murky of the plaster panels, the sanding, the primer and the test of the paint colors), I had left some of my tools out there. And then I left yesterday for dinner with friends while ending the details of the final edge on the floor.
And when I returned last night to see the finished floor, they had not only cleaned after them Air compressor and air hose were perfectly aligned in front of the window.
I know it’s something small, but small details like that impress me.
If you have been here for a long time, you know how difficult it is for me to hire work. It is very difficult for me to trust other people to do a good job and pay attention to the details I want them to pay attention. Therefore, hiring something as important as the installation of the floor throughout the suite of the whole room was a great jump of faith for me.
Finding a company that not only met, but exceeded my expectations, makes me want to shout its name from my roof. That is the type of business that expects him to stay for a very a long time. We need more contractors and subcontractors with this type of work ethics and detail attention!
Obviously, the floor has a long way to go before it is over. As I mentioned in a previous publication, they only do the installation. But the owner recommended someone to sand me (Part I In fact feared doing myself).
And they told me that it will come today to start sanding. Actually, I did not confirm it with him, but Mr. Valdez said he spoke with him and said he plans to be here this morning. If that does not happen, I will not be angry, since on Wednesdays they are the day I have lunch with my mother and my brother. So, if it is not shown, I will coordinate with him at the end of the day, and I hope he can do the sanding at the end of this week.
And if you can do it at the end of this week, that means you could start staining and polyurethanes this weekend! (Note on the margin: I can’t believe that I really have floors! I was so worried that I had not bought enough, and even when I measured and refused, my mathematics told me that I had about 40 square feet. I have no idea how I finished With leftover floors!)
And another note apart, I had someone asked me about those few boards in the lobby that are darker. He wondered if they had slipped into some tables of a species different from that of the rest of the wood floors. Those are the same red oak as the rest of the floors. He had tried the colors of spots on them, but once they are sanded, they will be the same color as the rest. I have only bought red oak floors for our house.
