After reading all your comments in yesterday’s publication about what I must do with the areas about the washing machine and the dryer in the closet, I have decided to add beautiful hanging lights on the washing machine and the dryer and then add a single work of large art and framed on the wall behind each device. That was not just my favorite idea, but it also seemed the easiest, which made it even better.
Then, while working yesterday, I was thinking about lighting. Now that all perimeter cabinets are in place, I can see exactly where the central light in the room should go. As you can see here, the central light (currently a ceiling fan) is out of the center of approximately six inches.
So I will need to move that union box about six inches to focus on the island. And that’s where I will be hanging a nice candlestick.
Maybe you remember a while ago, I was looking for a beautiful spider to go on the island, and I found it that costs $ 2300 …
There is no way that I can or would ever pay so much for a candlestick, so I’m going to make a spider lamp that looks like this. I needed a good base to start, so I ended up buying East of Lamps Plus. (Affiliate link) I was looking for a very specific way to work, and he had it. I was not worried about the color because I will paint everything white anyway.

And then I will have my cute flowers of flowers in this section of the cabinet. I was hoping to get the uphow paper and apply them yesterday, but I ran out of time. Painting so many shelves is taking much longer than I expected.

Anyway, as a reminder, the appliques look like this …

And then I will add five lights embedded to the ceiling. Four will be uniformly spaced in the room of the room, and one will focus between the washing machine and the dryer.

And then I hope to add some negative rope lighting to the jewelry drawer, which I finished yesterday. I painted the inside to match the jewelry trays, and the front and the painted sides so that they coincide with the cabinets.

I ended up selecting very simple gold knobs for the drawer because there will be so many things here once the wallpaper is up and the shelves are loaded with shoes and other items, so I did not think I needed a more striking thing in the front of the drawer.
And then I think I will also add some rope lighting to the back of the necklace bar.

So, until yesterday, that is all the lighting he had planned for the room. But now I love the idea of adding hanging lights on the washing machine and dryer. In fact, with the pendants on the washing machine and the dryer, it is possible that he does not even need the built -in light that he had planned to put between them.
Last night I spent time looking at hanging lights, and I really don’t know what direction to go. Of course, I love unique lighting. I see lighting as sculptural works of art more than anything else. So my first inclination is always to find something that is really unique and striking. But at the same time, I do not want something that subtracts value from the spider lamp that I am going to do above the central island. And, I know, not everything should be a characteristic, right? Several of you have tried to pierce that in my head in recent years. I am finally receiving it. 😀
With that in mind, the only guy who really seems meaning would be something like this (Affiliate link) …

White would coordinate with the other lighting (spider lamp and appliques), and gold would join with the other hardware in the room. Those would look good and coordinate without trying to be a showstopper to move attention to the island’s spider lamp.
Although, I met East of Home Depot (Affiliate link) that I think could work. It is not clear, but it is not so striking that it would distract. That money would have to be painted, but that is quite easy. And it only costs $ 20.68! 😀

Or is it too striking? I don’t know. Maybe I should continue with simple dome lights.
So that is the direction that I go with the area of the washing machine and the dryer: hanging lights and large and framed works of art. But I need to find the perfect hanging lights. They need to be pretty. They need to coordinate with the other lighting (white candlestick and white appliques). But they do not need to be too striking to distract from the main spider lamp. I just have to keep looking.
Meanwhile, I will leave you with a look at this sweet boy. He can’t stand not being close to me, so he feels comfortable here and falls asleep while working.
